Maintenance Tips For Air Conditioners

Intelligent people aren’t overthinking. They’re more focused on planning, improvement, and promptness. It is better not to wait for the AC to stop functioning suddenly and to have AC maintenance, repair, and maintenance done regularly.

You can avoid unwanted situations by calling an AC technician for frequent maintenance and service in the early weeks of the year.

Aside from your annual AC maintenance visit, it is important to provide your AC with additional maintenance throughout every year. These are just a few of the recommendations for maintenance that you should make:

Change The HVAC Filter

Air conditioners, furnaces, and other heating devices can absorb any dust or dirt that naturally exists in the air. These furnaces have HVAC filters installed to reduce the amount and type of residue that they inhale. These filters prevent residue from being able to enter the filter, but it also makes the filter completely inundated.

This is why air filters must be changed often. Every three months, your HVAC filter must be changed if your air conditioner is to function at its full potential. The hair and dander from pets can cause this filter to need to be replaced more often.

Condenser Area Cleaning

Your home’s outside is where your air conditioner’s condenser is. As such, the condenser is easily damaged by branches falling on it, kicked up stones and dirt, bushes, and any other forms of overgrowth. In rare instances, it can be a problem if overhanging greenery falls into condensers. This can lead to jams and other mechanical damage.

There are instances when animals such as mice and ants chew on the wires or become attracted to water. It can be dangerous for them and could cause damage to your exterior unit. While professional maintenance will detect it, you can also spot-check for signs of pests.

Keep your condenser in a clear area to prevent collateral damage. Make sure there is at least 5 feet of clearance from the sides of your condenser. You also need to trim any trees or hedges within 5 feet of it. This will make the area less attractive to other animals.

Poor Vinegar: Condensate Drainage

Condensate pipes can get clogged up during the spring and autumn when air conditioners operate less frequently. They constantly remove water from the air, even when running at full speed in hot weather. It can lead to condensate drainage problems if they run less often when it is cold outside. It builds up quicker than you might think. Clogged drains are a sign that there is a problem with your water supply!

To keep your condensate drained, pour a cup of plain vinegar down it every season. This can be a problem if it isn’t obvious or you don’t know what to do, contact BAC Services at the next maintenance appointment. These clogs can usually be avoided by finding a longer-lasting solution.

You Should Always Be On The Lookout For Vent Covers

To distribute the air, most central AC systems use a system of ducts. These ducts are used to distribute the AC’s energy to various rooms throughout your home. It then blows through vents located in ceilings, floors, or on walls.

You need to keep an eye on the vents and look out for any signs of mold. The mold can quickly grow due to excessive humidity. If you don’t know how to fix it, an HVAC technician can help.

If your mini-split system has ducts, it won’t have blowers but you will still have them. You’ll need to remove the cover. The filters can be cleaned or vacuumed.
